Why and how often should you go for a dental check-up?

Kitchener Street Dental Toowoomba cares for you and your oral health

How long has it been since your last dental check-up? Have you been putting it off due to your busy lifestyle? Is your dental hygiene suffering?

Our dentists are passionate about oral hygiene and want you to have your healthiest, happiest smile.

So we ask you to fit your dental appointment into your timetable. Our friendly dental staff at Kitchener Street Dental Toowoomba want you to come along and have regular check-ups to ensure you can always have healthy teeth and gums.

So what do our regular dental check-ups include?

Comprehensive examination:

On your initial visit, we will review your dental/medical history and perform screenings to understand your oral health. Afterwards, we will spend time with you addressing concerns or any recommended treatments. This examination is about tailoring a plan to your needs.

Maintenance visit:

Try to maintain your good oral health care by visiting back every six months for regular check-ups.

What’s more, during your visits, we will professionally clean your teeth and use fluoride to strengthen your teeth and may recommend scaling for some patients if required.

Fluoride treatment and scaling:

Even if you take care and brush your teeth everyday, they still face harsh challenges from acid which is usually created by bacteria in plaque breaking down sugars from foods and drinks. This acid eats through your enamel, which leads to tooth decay, causing holes or cavities.

Our natural intake of fluoride through certain foods and water is not enough to fight these acids, which is why having dental fluoride treatment is important. This damage can however be repaired by the dentist applying fluoride over your teeth, as this strengthens the structure and provides a stronger protection against acids.

We also provide dental scaling, which is a common treatment for patients with gum disease and excessive plaque build up around the gumline. Scaling is a procedure separate to general check-ups and is commonly referred to as deep cleaning and focuses on cleaning plaque from the gumline.

Children should have check-ups to make their smile shine

We are experienced in treating children of all ages and would like to help them grow up to have fewer dental problems. We recommend children to have check-ups every 6 to 12 months.

At Kitchener Street Dental, we offer a wide range of dental treatments to patients from cleans and general check-ups to more involved treatments. To find out more about our dental services or to book an appointment, please contact us today.
