Accidents happen.
If you’ve suffered an injury that has left you with chipped, cracked or missing teeth we can help restore your smile. Restorative dentistry isn’t just about fixing the aesthetics of your smile it is also, and more importantly, about fixing the function of your smile.
Chipped or cracked teeth can adversely affect your bite alignment which can cause muscle and joint complications. Missing teeth have a negative impact on your jaw: jawbone shrinkage can give you a sunken appearance as well as cause tooth loss.
Of course not all chips and cracks are going to have such a negative impact on your oral health. And we do have patients who want their chipped or cracked teeth restored for aesthetic reasons.
As part of our commitment to our patients we offer a range of dental technology to make your treatment faster and more comfortable. With the CEREC Machine we are able to provide patients with same-day porcelain restorations. Before the CEREC Machine it would take several appointments to place veneers or a crown.
Now, thanks to the CEREC Machine, it can be done in just one appointment. This means, no unpleasant putty to mould your teeth, no temporary crown or veneers that have to site their awkwardly for a week.
At Kitchener Street Dental in Toowoomba our range of restorative dental treatments include: veneers, crowns, bridges and dental implants.
Veneers: porcelain veneers are thin shells that are custom-made to match your tooth. Once you and your dentist are happy with the look of your veneers they will be bonded to the front of your teeth. Because veneers are mostly a cosmetic treatment, they are only bonded to the teeth in your smile zone—the smile zone being the teeth that are visible when you smile.
Crowns: porcelain crowns cover and protect a damaged or weak tooth. Once your tooth has been prepared, one of our dentists will use the CEREC Machine to take a digital impression of your tooth and then create it. This means that you get your porcelain crown in one appointment!
Dental Implants: there is no restorative treatment better for a missing tooth than dental implants. Dental implant treatment is a comprehensive treatment that restores the whole tooth. Dentures and bridges only restore the crown of the tooth, whereas dental implants replace the tooth root and the crown of the tooth. Generally, this treatment takes anywhere from 3-6 months depending on a number of factors. These factors include: your oral health, you’re body’s ability to heal and if the implant is in your top or bottom jaw.
Dental implant treatment involves the implant being surgically inserted into your jaw. Once your jawbone has healed around the implant—forming a strong tooth root—the prosthetic tooth replacement is attached to the implant giving you a whole tooth replacement.
